Getting Back

54 degrees and sand in your ears.
Cracked lips despite a ton of lip balm.
Smelling diesel and drilling mud.
Drinking like a million soft drinks a day.
June wasn't exactly peaceful.

Home has never felt better. * sigh *

Why do you choose "54 degrees"? Was it just a coincidence or did you know that this angle has a special astronomical significance? In Angkor Wat, the 12th century temple in Cambodia, the number 54 is related to the earth's precession number and is represented in several features of this temple. Even the nearby Angkor Tom bridge has exactly 54 statues on either side of the bridge. Some historians believe that the builders of the temple had huge knowledge of astronomy and they wanted to pass it on to future generations and therefore they embedded that number and other astronomically significant facts everywhere in the temple structure. Isn't that fascinating? Sometimes I think that the old civilizations were much cleverer than us.
